A trek to an area very less frequented by westerners to one of the largest Gurung villages in west Nepal. The trek starts with a drive from Pokhara to Lampata and passes through Ghale Gaun and over the pass to Parje and Siklis – largest Gurung settlements. From Siklis, the route turns east and stays along the ridge through Kalikathan and Shyaklung with a final night at Chisopani before descending to Pokhara via Rupa and Begnas lakes.
The Siklis Trek in the Annapurna region was a definite highlight in our Nepal visit. While not nearly as arduous as the Annapurna Circuit or Everest Base Camp, we shed a reasonable amount of sweat during our five day trek. Because the Siklis region has no teahouses whatsoever, the trek was fully supported, which meant that we had a huge crew of porters, cooks and guides who took care of our entire tour group. It was quite an operation to see; porters carrying unbelievable loads, cooks preparing incredible dishes, and our guides entertaining us from dawn to dusk.
