Essential Information

Visa Information

Immigration Offices, under Department of Immigration have been facilitating tourists flying to Nepal by providing Visa on Arrival. 'On Arrival' visa procedure is very quick and simple. You can expect some queues during peak Tourist season. If you wish to skip those queues, you can also consider getting Visa from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions stationed abroad prior to your arrival. Choice is yours.

If you have obtained visa from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions, then you must enter Nepal within six months from the visa issued date. Your total stay is counted starting from the day you enter into Nepal.

Visas obtained on Arrival at the Entry and Exit points are 'Tourist Visas'.  They bear multiple Re entry facility. Tourist Visa 'On Arrival' is the only entry visa to Nepal. If you are visiting Nepal for the purposes other than Tourism (sightseeing, tour, travel, mountaineering, trekking, visiting friends and families), you should still get ' Tourist Visa' to get into the country.  However, you must change the category of visa as per your purpose and length of stay in Nepal from Department of Immigration by producing required documents.

Itinerary

  • Days 1-3 : Flying into Kathmandu is an unforgettable experience with the Himalaya spread out before you. You will be met at the airport on arrival and transferred to your hotel.
  • Day 4: The villages of Bungamati and Kokana offer a fascinating glimpse of rural life in the Kathmandu Valley. In both villages life takes place more on the streets than inside with villagers spinning, caring for children, gossiping, processing crops in the sun. Wood carving is a tradition aliv and strong here and it is possible to see beautiful pieces being produced, including doors and window frames. Bungamati is also one of the two homes of the rain god, Raato Machhendranath. Kokana is particularly renowned as a producer of mustard oil. Overnight in the lovely traditional Newari village of Panauti.
  • Day 5: In Bhaktapur the essence of the medieval town can still be felt as the city preserves its own unique identity. Founded in 889 it was once capital of the whole Valley. As well as an impressive Durbar Square and numerous temples, Bhaktapur is famous for its pottery – whole streets are filled with pieces of all shapes and sizes set in the sun to dry.
  • Day 6: Bhadgaun is a typical Newari village with traditional village architecture and narrow, unpaved streets where the rituals of daily life are always in full swing – villagers spinning, caring for children, gossiping, processing crops in the sun.
  • Days 7-8: The Trisuliis Nepal’s most popular rafting river and is easily accessible from Kathmandu. It meanders close to the highway and is perfect as a means of transport to Royal Chitwan National Park. Despite its proximity to the road the Trisuli offers great scenery, impressive gorges and exciting rapids. (Grade 3).
  • Days 8-9: Royal Chitwan National Park is home to the royal Bengal tiger, one-horned rhino, sloth bear, langur monkeys, wild boar, numerous species of deer, leopard and other jungle cats. Elephant back is a fantastic way to explore the jungle and offers the possibility of close-up views of rhinos in their natural habitat as well as many of the park’s other inhabitants. With over 400 species as either permanent residents or migratory visitors Chitwan’s bird life is generally viewed on foot as you walk through jungle and open grasslands. Boat along the Narayani River on the park’s western boundary – it shelters a quarter of the world’s remaining gharial population. This fish eating crocodile has long been hunted for the supposed aphrodisiac qualities of its snout.
  • Day 10: Drive to Besisahar, the bustling supply town for the villages of the Marsyandi Khola, from where you set out on the first stage of your trek – along the Marshyangdi river bank to Khudi.
  • Day 11: The trail sets out along the banks of the Khudi River, past waterfalls and villages. It then begins a 4-5 hour climb; the view from the top however, is worth it – Annapurna and Manaslu at sunset. Lodging with families and an evening cultural program is one of the highlights of this trek.
  • Day 12: Sunrise affords further stunning views followed by a local breakfast. Visit Ghanpokhara village before descending for the short trek to Bhujung. This is a large, traditional Gurung village amid waterfalls and rhododendron forests.
  • Day 13: Recrossing the Midim River via suspension bridge, you then begin a 3-hour climb to Khumre Danda (2,000m) before descending to Pasgaun. Visit the Buddhist gompa and learn traditional songs and dances with an evening cultural show.
  • Day 14: Today begins with a steep descent to Rudi Stream, which we cross and then follow for about half an hour. Climbing again is rewarded by further views of the Annapurna and Manasalu Ranges.
  • Day 15: It is a steep 3-hour descent this morning to the Mandi River and the roadway at Thumsikot. From here it is 2-3 hours to Pokhara.
Day 16: A free day in Pokhara to relax by the lake, shop.
  • Days 17-18 : Drive to Kathmandu (or you may choose to fly) and spend a last day shopping and sightseeing.
