Overview

Pikey Peak trek is the newly opened trekking destinations in Solukhumbu Region. Pikey peak is a one of the tallest” Hills” in the Solu. The name Pikey is derived from the name of a Sherpa Clan deity. During the month of July the locals hold different celebrations to worship their clan god. This peak offers a majestic view of the Everest Himalayan Range and Numbur Chuli. The trail passes through beautiful settlements and you can visit the ancient Buddhist Monastery of Thupten Chholing and enjoy the unique Sherpa culture. During the festival season in August cleansing rituals at the sacred lakes are performed with  several important Shamans. The Pikey Danda is most popular for its sunrise and sunset views and one can enjoy the glorious sight of the peaks beyond the Kathmandu Valley to the plains along with the Himalayan range of Mt. Everest, Makalu and Annapurna. This trekking has to be organized as camping style however also small lodges and the possibility of home stay has started on this route.

Essential Information

Visa Information

Immigration Offices, under Department of Immigration have been facilitating tourists flying to Nepal by providing Visa on Arrival. 'On Arrival' visa procedure is very quick and simple. You can expect some queues during peak Tourist season. If you wish to skip those queues, you can also consider getting Visa from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions stationed abroad prior to your arrival. Choice is yours.

 If you have obtained visa from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions, then you must enter Nepal within six months from the visa issued date. Your total stay is counted starting from the day you enter into Nepal.

Visas obtained on Arrival at the Entry and Exit points are 'Tourist Visas'.  They bear multiple Re entry facility. Tourist Visa 'On Arrival' is the only entry visa to Nepal. If you are visiting Nepal for the purposes other than Tourism (sightseeing, tour, travel, mountaineering, trekking, visiting friends and families), you should still get ' Tourist Visa' to get into the country.  However, you must change the category of visa as per your purpose and length of stay in Nepal from Department of Immigration by producing required documents.

Useful Tips:

A travel insurance policy that covers medical treatment is recommended for all tourists.
Similarly, we recommend you to make sure that the insurance covers activities such as trekking, hiking, adventure activities, rafting etc. that you will be undertaking during your stay in Nepal
Getting special vaccinations is not necessary when visiting Nepal.
We still recommend that you consult with your physician regarding special immunizing against any tropical disease.
It may be a good idea to get a complete checkup before departure.
We recommend that you undertake training programs to be physically fit if you plan to go high-altitude trekking or mountaineering when you’re visiting Nepal.
Please read up on altitude sickness (AMS) , diarrhea, Giardia, Dysentery, Cholera, Hepatitis, Rabies, Typhoid, Tetanus, Meningitis, Diphtheria, Malaria and HIV/ AIDS. Information and little precautions can often save lives.
Always make sure that your water is clean by opting for boiled and then cooled water, treated water or sealed water from a brand.
Always carry a bottle of water when trekking or venturing off away from the city/ town.
Please do not swim in lakes and water bodies, especially where depth and vegetation are not known.
Always carry and use mosquito repellant when in Terai region or during the summer.
Please have a handy medical first aid kit ready for any situation.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu, Pick up at Tribhuvan International Airport by our High valley Treks staff and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu. Briefing about Pike Peak trip plan, Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.
  • Day 02: Full Day Guided Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley by private van, Today our highvalley treks staff and German& English speaking tour guide take to visit the famous places of Kathmandu valley that includes  Bhaktapur, Patan, Boudhanath Stupa, and Pashupatinath Temple. After sighseen, our company will invite well come dinner at Nepali restaurant with culture dance show. Overnight in
  • Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar 2850m/7 hours by private 4W land cruiser , Journey starts early morning leaving hustle bustle Kathmandu valley to Dhap Bazar via Okhaldungha by private 4W land cruiser which takes almost 7-8 hours driving along the  Sun Koshi, later joining Tama Koshi and become roaring big Koshi River until reaching Ghurmi where we take Dal Bhat in the small local restaurant for lunch. It takes about 4 hours of driving to arrive in Ghurmi. Then smooth drives goes uphill continuously towards north through the subtropical forests of Pine to dense forests of Rhododendron passing several countryside villages, beautiful landscapes, and valleys until reaching Dhap Bazar (2850m) which takes about 3 hours. To explore the fascinated village with several local shops give you the different experience of knowing local people and culture, their way of life. In the clear sky, the awesome mountain view of Number Chuli feels you that you are already closed to the Himalaya. Stay overnight at Lodge.
  • Day 04: Trek from Dhap Bazzar to Jhapre 2815m/4 hours via Sigane, Morning after breakfast, the walking trail stays on dusty road head until reaching Sigane for 2 and half hour. Then trail from Sigane follows again a road under construction for the first couple of hours. The first village is called Jahpre (2815m). It’s perched above a deep valley with nice views of Everest and the Number Himal. There’s a pretty little Gompa and Stupa here. This is also another best view point for all high Himalayan range to north. Here you find few lodges with its comfort and plenty of food items. We stay overnight at Lodge.
  • Day 05: Trek from Jhapre to Pikey Base Camp 3585m/5-6 hours, Early morning what an awesome mountain scenery of Numbur Chuli and Everest including eastern Himalayan range. The trekking Trail starts in dirt road for a while and quickly catch the gentle walking uphill through the Pine and Rhododendron forest until reaching Bhulbule (3210m) and it takes about 2 hours. You will find small tea shop there. Then trail continue again the gentle climbing uphill to arrive in Lhamuje (3330m) which takes an hour. Here is lunch place and newly built tea-house. In the spring season, you will enjoy with different spices of Rhododendron flowers during the walk and spectacular high Himalayan range. Afterward the trail stays gentle ups and downs in the ridge to arrive very Yak pasture land where we can see many grazing Yaks. Then we pass very long Mani Wall and start climbing steep uphill with zigzag trail to arrive Pikey Peak Base Camp (3585m) which takes about 2 hour and 30 minutes. You can visit Yak Cheese factory and they product Cheese during Monsoon( May to sep). You find 2 basic lodges where serving basic local foods. We stay overnight at Lodge.
  • Day 06: Trek from Pikey Base Camp to Junbesi 2680m/6 hours via Pikey Peak 4065m, Early morning, trail starts steep switchback uphill until reaching Pikey Peak (4065m) which takes about an hour. The unobstructed Sunrise view over the Himalayan range and the spectacular views of mountains including Mt. Everest, Number Chuli, Thamserku, Khangtega, Khatang, Karyoling to the north, Kanchenjunga to the east, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang to the west. Then trek goes downhill in the gully stone trail for few hours and enter to the Rhododendron and Pine forest until Jase Bhanjyang (3550m) and it takes about 2 hours. Then trail stays on the ridge with up and down to arrive Lamjura (3530m) which takes about 2 hours. You can stop for lunch here. Then trail goes long descent to the valley through fir and rhododendron forests until reaching Taktor and trail stays level walking to Junbesi (2680m) passing several mani walls and stone chhortens. It takes 2 and half hours. The Numbur Chuli to the north just looming high above the village. You may visit old monastery in the village with exploring the village to know their culture and way of life. There are several nice lodges with good food menu. We stay overnight at Lodge.
  • Day 07: Exploration trip to Thupten Chholing Gompa 2920m/4 hours, Morning after breakfast, you can hike to Thupten Chholing Gompa (2920m) for round trip 3 hours. The trail goes along Junbesi Khola with gentle climbing up hill. The Gompa was founded in 19th Century and practiced by Tibetan Buddhism. Then same way back to Junbesi. You may enjoy the meditation with local nuns and monks in the Monastery and explore the village.
  • Day 08: Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu 2380m/4 hours, Then we leave Junbesi village crossing by steel bridge, walk on the dirt road along the Junbesi Khola until reaching Benighat which takes 1 and half hour. We continue to walk on the dirt motor able road until reaching Bhagbani, then short walk up hill to Phaplu (2380m) which takes about an hour walking. People spent a night here to catch flight back to Kathmandu or 9 hours drive by local jeep next day. Here are plenty of nice lodges. We stay overnight in Phaplu.
  • Day 09: Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes
  • Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes and transfers to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.
  • Day 10:  sight seen rest of the place – due to flight cancellation or flight delay Or you can continue to sightseeing in Bhaktapur Darbar Square and Patan Darbar Square with our tour guide by private car,  and some shopping, overnight in Hotel.
  • Day 11: Final Departure from Kathmand, Our high valley staff will be transfer to Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and travel Destination.
